The key issue is, of course, the quality of the coffee and its quantity. It should be stressed right away that it ranks among the most popular stimulants. Coffee is a very popular beverage, which is mainly due to the caffeine content. It has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system. It has been shown that drinking coffee increases productivity, improves concentration and overall cognitive brain function. There are even scientific studies that confirm that coffee consumption reduces the risk of neurodegenerative diseases. It lowers the likelihood of experiencing cognitive impairment. Of course, it is worth pointing out straight away that every body reacts slightly differently to the substances contained in coffee. There are more than 1,000 different bioactive compounds in coffee. The main components of coffee are chlorogenic acid and caffeine. 

It is also worth knowing that in grains contains large amounts of antioxidants that fight free radicals. One might therefore be tempted to say that it guards a youthful appearance. Coffee also contains theobromine, which is present in large quantities in cocoa. There is theophylline, which has a stimulating and anti-inflammatory effect. It is most often reached for because of the caffeine mentioned earlier. However, one must be careful, as it has both advantages and disadvantages. It is only beneficial to the body if the daily dose is not exceeded. Otherwise, negative side effects can occur. Of course, the key point is to go for high quality grains, from a proven source. The degree of roasting, the method of brewing, is also important. All of this determines whether the drinks you drink will have a beneficial effects on healthor will they do more harm than good.

In people who drank one cup of coffee a day, the risk of death from embolic disease decreased by a few per cent. In contrast, it increased when consuming more than four cups per day. It has been shown that pregnant women who drink coffee may give birth prematurely and have an increased risk of miscarriage. You also have to reckon with giving birth to a baby with a lower body weight. Many women do not realise that the caffeine in coffee crosses the placenta. This means that it also enters the body of the foetus. This is not just speculation. Many scientific studies have been carried out in connection with pregnancy and coffee drinking. It is also important to be aware that it is not uncommon to find mycotoxins in the beans, which lead to irreversible damage to organs. They cause poisoning of the digestive system. Poor-quality, badly stored coffee can even be harmful. Most often, it contains a variety of impurities. 

If a woman is struggling with PMS, drinking coffee can exacerbate unpleasant symptoms. This includes increased irritability, mood swings, anxiety and depression, bloating, excessive appetite, breast tenderness, difficulty concentrating. Of course, not every woman will experience a link between caffeine and her menstrual cycle. Many people turn to coffee to counteract feelings of fatigue and increase productivity. It is a psychoactive substance. Eliminates drowsiness. It increases alertness. It is therefore not surprising that in people who consume too much large amounts of caffeine sleep problems are observed. The worst idea is to drink coffee before going to sleep; even a couple of hours' break may not be enough. According to studies, taking a dose of 400 mg of caffeine six hours before bedtime worsens the quality of sleep, its efficiency and duration are reduced. However, the induction of nocturnal rest is prolonged.
